Weekend Recap Sep 29 and Midweek Preview Oct 3

Chempions league returns (yay) and international break looms (boo).  Down below, Lee Chung Yong made his first start as well.

Wednesday

Son Heung Min -- Tottenham host Barcelona - 3pm ET on TNT. Started and played almost the whole match in a hybrid blended role of his own and Eriksen. When he got out behind defense, he looked really good with some good touches and pace but as a playmaker he was a mixed bag. He did provide the key pass to Rose for the penalty but there were way too many lost passes as he tried to get too precise or took on too much risk.  Still a positive trend but far from his best. With some injury questions we will see if Son starts. My guess is that he will be off the bench but Poch might need to start Son.

Recap

Ki Sung Yueng -- Was left out of squad and based on comments, it was purely tactical. Of course Newcastle continues to struggle so perhaps we will see Ki sooner rather than later but not good sign given only September.

Suk Hyun Jun -- Finally got the start and played 84.  I didn’t get to watch but he looked industrious in touch video but his off ball movement is always my question with Suk.  Still no goals from anyone.

Ji Dong Won -- Still out injured.

Koo Ja Cheol -- Returned from injury and came on for just less than a half hour. Had some really great touches but also a bit slow, but he may have been running conservatively given the fact that they were winning by two and then three. He started off in a 10 role but soon with more subs, Koo moved to CM. Hard to read too much except that he’s playing again.
