Weekend Recap Jan 23rd

Some cup action/rest this weekend but mostly a defensive weekend to recap.

Hong Jeong Ho -- A very strong and assertive defensive performance by HJH as he had a number of great tackles and clearances.  Very confident and should continue to start if he stays on this kind of form.

Ji Dong Won -- A non-impactful performance.  In a poor offensive showing for Augsburg, he was not the worst, but struggled to create much and was subbed off.  Caiuby is suspended for the next match so Ji will have a chance to make things up this weekend most likely in a wider role.

Koo Ja Cheol -- Still out with injury.  The lack of updates is disconcerting but there's been no indication as of yet that it's a more serious injury.

Kim Jin Su -- A solid performance in what I saw (he had third priority after U23 and Augsburg duo).  Bellarabi was mostly ineffective and didn't see major chances from Chicharito when he drifted wider.  Had some really good tackles too.

Lee Chung Yong -- An unused sub.  He'll hopefully get a chance this weekend.

Son Heung Min -- An ok performance.  Far from his dominating midweek showing, but Son looked very strong with his passing and workrate until he looked to have tired with 20 or so minutes left.  Just failed to spark enough danger but still on the positive side of things.

Park Joo Ho -- Looked very good defensively, and when he did get beaten, managed to recover well with some good pace.  Offensively though he still lags behind Schmelzer, looking very timid in his passing and losing the ball on the dribble a bit too easily.  Unfortunately, his day was marred by overreacting to a loose ball in the box which resulted in a goal.  With Durm being tried in a variety of positions, perhaps PJH is on solid footing after a much improved showing so far.

Ki Sung Yueng -- Looked good going forward but was really exposed in defense where being wide in the diamond, then even wider in 4-1-4-1, meant that Ki had to cover too much ground and was badly beaten by Coleman a number of times.  And as most of the time, Ki doesn't touch the ball enough when he's not in the center of the pitch.  It would be less of a problem if Cork (or Britton) could some creativity and control to the other side, but currently, Ki has little room and fewer chances to create and distribute.

Suk Hyun Jun -- Came on as a sub.

Yun Suk Young -- Still not a part despite Konchesky getting a lot of flack in past few weeks.
