Weekend Recap Jan 1st and Weekend Schedule Jan 9th

Happy new year and sorry for missing Suk Hyun Jun's return.  Somehow got their return date mixed up in my head.  Also Suk related, it looks increasingly likely that he will have been sold to a new club by the weekend so take that portion accordingly.  Also my excuse for cheating and not doing a separate post for Suk's Wednesday match.

Also it's a cup weekend so less television options available and certainly a lot of questions as to who will start with PL action returning midweek.

Ki Sung Yueng -- Ki started off incredibly sluggishly in wet conditions and continued to struggle on the defensive end.  At least he started to grow offensively over the course of the match even if he didn't provide a huge impact.  A pretty disappointing result for Swansea and showing for Ki.  Swansea really struggled again with a team who pressed and tried to contain Ki.  Without much width and Cork/Britton also struggling, Swansea could hardly build up their possession game.  Adding Barrow later on helped stretch Manchester United's defense out and gave Ki a bit more room to reassert control of the midfield but the change came too late.  The FA Cup comes at a good time to give Ki a bit of rest and I expect him to be on the bench or maybe even completely rested as they have a critical match vs fellow relegation candidate Sunderland on Wednesday.

Lee Chung Yong -- I woke up late and Chungy was about to head off and they were down by three goals so I'll update this when I pull this off the DVR... I had planned to watch today but not available on stream.  As for this weekend, Crystal Palace have the misfortune of getting a PL opponent.  Given their health issues, LCY has a strong chance of starting to save their stars for next week but Pardew might want to get some positive momentum again with a stronger XI so LCY might be on the bench.

Son Heung Min -- A poor showing from Son who really struggled with his back to goal when he came off the bench.  Any attempt at hold up play resulted in Son falling forward at the slightest defensive pressure.  He also looked confused, either running into teammates or just not running at all.  It was disappointing for him not to start; was it the rain-soaked pitch that gave Pochettino pause or was his bad performance reflective of training?  He should expect to start this match and start earning some more starting XI minutes.

Yun Suk Young -- Again unused, perhaps this is finally his chance to prove himself or at least try to earn a loan.  It's hard to know what's going on with YSY but if he were to suit up for QPR again, this weekend seems as likely as any.

Suk Hyun Jun -- Another week another goal.  This time with a nicely taken free kick.  He's on fire and I doubt he'll still be with Vitoria this week.  He'll start if the transfer isn't imminent but looks like they're closer than ever now.
