Park Joo Ho -- Eben with a short week I don't expect him to make squad, same as the weekend.
Kim Jin Su -- Hoffenheim finally had a clean sheet this weekend but all done without KJS. A few injuries so maybe an outside chance of being a warm body on the bench but nothing different for him.
Ji Dong Won -- Solid if unspectacular day from Ji. He was aggressive in his play from the get go, and had a few decent touches. That said, needs to create some opportunities for himself with Augsburg struggling to score consistently. With short week, perhaps Schuster might try Schmid in from start but I think Ji still has a good chance of starting and certainly a large chance of playing.
Koo Ja Cheol -- Definitely continuing his trend but even less sharp than last week. Had a few great chances wasted and seemed to turn off his brain as he picked up some needless fouls and gave up the ball when rushing to pass. He looks a bit tired but with quality lacking at Augsburg and Kohr out with injury, Koo will probably start... possibly/probably from a deeper CM role.
Lee Chung Yong -- Came on for garbage time in a huge win. Didn't watch. But he should get a decent chance to start in the cup match where Pardew might want to rotate a bit. Then again, they have PL opponents so I don't expect Pardew to stray too far from starting XI. I expect LCY to start and let's hope that he takes advantage.
Ki Sung Yueng -- Got another start and the team graphic had him switching with Fer and it turned out to be true, with Ki taking on a slightly deeper role and Fer slightly more advanced. The imbalanced 3 seems designed to offset Barrow on the right but no winger on the left. Ki was tidy and pushed possession forward but certainly was safe rather than creative doing so. He was pulled first, despite both Fer and Cork looking poor, and Ki let Guidolin know how upset he was, storming off the field and refusing to talk to his manager. Like Taylor who did the same last week, Ki seems like he will be sent to the doghouse, but given how little he played last spring, it remains to be seen how long he will be in exile for.
Son Heung Min -- What an impressive match for Son, who had beat Sunderland's right back all day long. Without one of the normal LBs behind him, Son seemed to have a lot more room to operate and a simpler role than usual. With the simple task of providing width, Son delivered in spades with some excellent crosses and some nice moves to open up chances for himself and his teammates. It was also nice to see Son do so well despite not scoring a goal and not getting frustrated with some shots that just missed. A MOTM performance seems to show that Son is adapting better to the PL and hopefully he can show more consistency too.
