Weekend Recap Aug 26th

Surprise action for Chungy, first start for Son but still not a great weekend brings more worries than hope ahead of international break. Not going to think too far ahead on that front... KNT only has to do better than Uzbekistan but that sounds so difficult right now.

Ji Dong Won -- Ji finally made the squad but was an unused sub. His absence from KNT is confusing  given that he was one of the few to be consistent at top tier last season. That said, he's probably not match fit with little preseason action and limited training.

Koo Ja Cheol -- Similar to last week as Koo started, but had trouble making an impact, and was sloppier than last week as well. Koo thrives on action and instinct; playing deep and safe only exposes his limited passing imagination and questionable positioning. He was subbed off in a triple sub but Augsburg came back to tie the match. We'll see how Baum decides to go forward.

Lee Chung Yong -- Came on at halftime and didn't do anything horrific but he did miss a great chance to score. He had received the ball in the box with a moment to shoot, but hesitated and was soon muscled off the ball. He also had trouble getting his crosses on target and dribbling past opponents. It was not a confidence inspiring showing and his spot will be in question once they get healthy.

Ki Sung Yueng -- In Korea recovering. Gut still says that talk of suiting up is a decoy but would be curious club wise if he did.

Kwon Chang Hoon -- Really didn't get into the flow. He had a nice cross and some decent touches but also had some sloppiness. And worst was his miscommunication with the right back, allowing the opposition attacking player to walk right in and setup the tying goal. Fortunately they won and have some time to work on communication but not a good showing.

Son Heung Min -- He got his first start of the season and started brightly, particularly getting incorrectly called offside on a nice run. But he seemed to tire quickly, especially chasing down a long pass in second half and looked sloppier as the match wore on before getting subbed off. He has a ways to go... sadly KNT can't wait for him so we have to hope for some lucky moment of class for WCQ.
