Weekend Preview July 27 and Weekend Recap July 19

The end of the season is finally here but still one big match to go before transition to Korean-less Champions League.

Sunday

Son Heung Min and Tottenham go to Crystal Palace at 11 AM on NBC Gold/Peacock - Fatigue is clearly starting to show on Son but he battled through and started the offensive downpour, cutting inside, shooting and getting a deflection for what would be ruled an own goal. He struggled a bit for full speed after such a compressed schedule, at times choosing to pass back and not quite beating defenders as easily, and his first touch after a hard run was too heavy ruined a great chance. But we can start to see how much better he can be with a center forward ahead playing well: both from a sharing the load perspective and also someone to work off of in the attack. A good showing given circumstances and hopefully the regular week of rest gives him the extra spark to finish off strong. He should start the final match to determine if they qualify for Europa League -- they don't want to hope for results from other EL fighting sides and/or FA Cup.

Recap

Lee Kang In - Lee Kang In came on with 20 or so to go; I only got to see the final few minutes where he had some good small touches but Valencia was struggling to do anything and LKI's poor integration in the side didn't help. At the end of the day, Europa League would have been a distraction if LKI stayed; Valencia's financial issues would likely mean little in the way of depth and a struggle against expectations would mean relying on veterans over youth. Now we can see where LKI goes... currently sounds like they want to build around him and likely won't have many alternatives with sells in the forecast; whichever way he goes, he'll need to play.
