MIdweek Preview Nov 4 and Weekend Recap Oct 31

A mixed weekend with a lot of action if not necessarily the best results.

Again a reminder to vote!

Wednesday

Hwang Hee Chan -- Leipzig host PSG at 3PM on CBS All Access -- Finally came on during a competitive moment with Leipzig down by one with an hour gone. While still far from a perfect player, with a misplaced cross into the box and putting an open header well over, he did provide a spark. His pace and hard effort stretched out what had been an organized and compact defensive line and created some holes for himself and his teammates. Perhaps a positive sign ahead of PSG but still suspect a bench role.

Thursday

Son Heung Min -- Tottenham go to Ludogrets at 12:55 PM on CBS All Access -- A tough win for Tottenham, and not a great showing from Son. He started off well, with some good passes and runs, but things seemed to stall out when he stole the ball and drove in but shot way off target. I imagine will be rested on the bench unless (until?) things go bad like last week.

Recap

Lee Jae Sung -- Played about 75 minutes on what sounded like a tough day for Kiel.

Ji Dong Won -- Ji was warming up to help kill time when they conceded. It was very choppy afterward but Ji was moving well and doing ok given the limited touches. But things are very bad for Mainz and you wonder what things will happen to right the ship.

Yun Il Lok -- Also a positive sign with Yun coming on at an hour with Montpellier defending a one goal lead. He showed some good touch and physicality but didn't get too many touches to do more.

Paik Seung Ho -- Still out with injury.

Choi Kyoung Rok -- Got the start again, and was subbed off at 78 so hopefully progress despite a heartbreaking loss.

Kwon Chang Hoon -- Streich changed his subbing pattern slightly, adding a third player into the usual simul-sub of Kwon and Jeong with 10 minutes left. Unfortunately, the match had gotten away from Freiburg before they got on and Kwon barely got any touches at all from his wide role. Did ok battling for the 50/50s that did go his way FWIW.

Jeong Woo Yeong -- Jeong had a greater number of chances and looked energetic. Unfortunately his passing was quite errant with some overhit crosses and even left Kwon exposed with another simple pass hit wide and weakly. He did bring some energy into a lackluster attack however.

Hwang Ui Jo -- Started but got pulled at HT. Not sure why he got taken off given that Bordeaux conceded three at the time and he didn't make any mistakes in his few touches. He may have erred a bit too safe when he did get in the attacking area, but I didn't see any great opportunities.

Lee Kang In -- Started and though it took a while for him to find the match, he looked good with the ball, easily taking on defenders on the dribble even when it was likely the wrong decision to do so. He had some nice passes too... and some overly risky ones when a simpler pass would have done just as well. Was understandably subbed off when Valencia went down to 10 men with half an hour to go and apparently missed a wild finish. He continues making positive steps in the right direction.
