Midweek Preview Mar 18 and Weekend Recap Mar 12

Again, it is mindboggling that FAs like the KFA are risking spreading pandemic around the world for friendlies of all things. Ridiculous. Particularly insane given the huge negative impact the last round had, between Hwang Hee Chan and Kwon Chang Hoon both missing large amounts of time that set back their chances for bigger roles. Perhaps things are so low risk in Korea that it might sound ok to them, but it is not safe in Europe for this absurdity.

Thursday

Son Heung Min-- Tottenham go to Dinamo Zagreb at 1:55 PM on Paramount+ - The game of Russian Roulette that Mourinho has played with Son playing for so many minutes with minimal rest finally had a price as Son pulled up lame in the first ten minutes. The hamstring strain sounds pretty minor but even if he were fit for the weekend, not worth risking a sub role for Son to do KNT duty. I don't expect him back until after the break.

Recap

Jeong Woo Yeong-- Jeong started the match and was ok on a day when Freiburg was not decisive. Jeong played strong against pressure and had a few half chances. Streich seemed to appreciate his showing as he was only subbed off in the final ten minutes when he started to look tired.

Kwon Chang Hoon-- Came on as a sub and only had a few touches but looked speedy and ready for more.

Lee Jae Sung-- Match was postponed but left in here with rumors heating up, with more certainty pointing towards a move to Hoffenheim.

Lee Kang In-- Started and did very well but was subbed off way too early. LKI looked frustrated in the stands and commentators and social media seemed confused as he was the only one willing to work during the transitions. His hard work was wasted with static teammates and wasteful shots.

Paik Seung Ho-- No news.

Yun Il Lok-- Left out of the squad.

Ji Dong Won-- Started and looked pretty good... except when it counted most and somehow found a way to shoot wide from close range with a near empty goal to aim at. At the bottom of the table, those chances can't be wasted and its a bit disappointing as Ji did most of the hard work to create the chance.

Choi Kyoung Rok-- Was a bit less noticeable in the part that I watched (until Ji was subbed off) but CKR had a few scrappy chances and did well when he was involved.

Hwang Ui Jo-- My stream got choppy right before things turned up for HUJ, scoring a brace in a strong Bordeaux win. The goals were both well taken and he'll be hoping to carry that confidence going forward.

Hwang Hee Chan-- Hwang came on as a sub and I continue to be confused why he doesn't feature more given limited dynamic play from other strikers. Unfortunately, HHC couldn't make things count when he did come on with his best chance being when he let space open up and then shot so far wide of goal. Even if HHC has a lot of faults in his play, his energy and physicality open things up for his teammates.
