Weekend Recap Mar 2 and Midweek Preview Mar 5

Mixed bag and still behind on my watching over workweek so only watched some of Augsburg for example.

Tuesday

Son Heung Min-- 3 PM at Dortmund (CL) - B/R Live - A better mixed bag than midweek it seems, but again Son couldn't offset the problems with the lack of energy and quality in the midfield. Son had some good dribbles and even a few shots that provided a glimpse of danger but there was a weird hesitancy when it came to final touches as Tottenham looked a bit short of confidence. And he looked pretty spent when he did get subbed off with 79'. I assume he was taken off in a hope to get him rested for midweek where he should start vs. Dortmund who he's been pretty good against.

Wednesday

Paik Seung Ho-- 12:45 PM vs Barcelona (Cup) - No TV - Unlike Lee Kang In, he gets to retain his B team eligibility and played 90 for the reserves. Kind of a meaningless local cup midweek so maybe he gets a chance to play, maybe even start, but Girona have a bit of breathing room over relegation so maybe will want to get one over on their bigger neighbors.

Thursday

Lee Kang In-- 3 PM vs Krasnodar (EL) - Univision/B/R Live - Left out of the squad and it seems like a lose-lose for everyone except Marcelino. Given pattern, I don't think he'll have a big role if he even makes squad for EL, and he'll have to hope for a lopsided score in either direction to get a chance on second leg.

Recap

Ji Dong Won-- A huge performance from Ji scoring two goals against his former club which helped them stay unexpectedly free of the bottom three spots. Playing as a center forward, he scored one scrappy goal, when his shot was blocked but he slammed in the rebound, and one spectacular one, when he intercepted a poor pass and chipped the GK beautifully into the far corner. In addition to the goals, in the parts that I saw, he also provided a good focal point for the attack, between holding up the ball, distributing from up top and also starting the press. Was subbed off after 83 minutes for applause and well deserved rest.

Koo Ja Cheol-- Was industrious alongside Baier as he moved into a deeper role with Khedira moving to defense. To be honest, wasn't watching him too closely as I haven't watched replay with full concentration (and again, not the full one yet) but that's also a good thing as he wasn't noticeably problematic.

Ki Sung Yueng-- Made the bench over Shelvey and even came out at HT to warm up, but an injury to Longstaff meant that he had to wait for his turn, though that injury increases chances of keeping bench spot for now.

Suk Hyun Jun-- Left off the squad for what looks like tactical decisions for now. A bit disappointing.

Kwon Chang Hoon-- Was benched and to be honest, forgot to keep track of him as he did come at 72 minutes on which came right around a Dijon own goal that leaves Dijon 5 points back of safety and in deep trouble.
