Midweek Schedule July 1 and Weekend Recap June 25

A bit difficult to navigate the schedule when I'm on a socially distanced vacation while the transfer window opens up, but doing my best here. I'll try to write up a season review as we get closer to that point but really tricky given a) that I hardly remember anything pre-COVID and b) the back end of the season might drag on with CL and whatnot.

On the transfer news front, it seems Hwang Hee Chan is being promoted to the first team of Leipig in an ostensibly 15m transfer. Ki Sung Yueng is done at Mallorca having played 9 minutes and Seo Young Jae starts his K League career. Choi Kyoung Rok never returned to active squad post ACL injury but his club survived relegation so that's good news.

Lee Kang In-- He came on as a sub but didn't get to watch on my vacation. It sounded like match was lost when he came on and now they have a temporary manager. We'll see if things change, if only from a next-season planning perspective, but for now I'm assuming same marginal role.

Son Heung Min-- Should start.

Ki Sung Yueng-- I removed him given his likely return to Korea but who knows given the last second change in the prior window. All a bit sad for how this all went; even when we knew that this was a band-aid for problems with Korean transfer rights, it feels sad to have his European career end without a fight. Certainly his lack of desire for risk-taking given global uncertainty and separation from family make sense. I'm planning on going in more depth into his European career at some future date.

Paik Seung Ho-- Came on at 73 and played at DM. He didn't have to do too much as the match slowed down given lack of importance to the match.

Kwon Chang Hoon-- Kwon came on but this match was blown out and didn't have to do too much. His coming on seems to throw some cold water on a potential move but not sure how he can avoid military duty / K League rules either.

Lee Jae Sung-- Again out of squad so we'll see if there's a move that wasn't risked.

Seo Young Jae-- An unused sub and his contract wasn't renewed so we're just waiting for confirmation of his move to K League (I may have missed while gone).

Ji Dong Won-- Came on as a sub and had a huge chance to score but he took an extra half step and as a result, the GK closed in and deflected the shot onto the crossbar. In the end, it didn't matter as there was an offside in the buildup but disappointing to not at least take the chance. Was otherwise fairly uneventful and he'll be looking to getting some health ahead of next season.
