Weekend Preview Apr 16 and Recap Apr 9

Fri-yay? A weirdly large amount on Friday. It works a bit better for my schedule given weekend activities I have lined up, but increases work dragging into watching time...

Ji Dong Won-- Fit enough to be in squad but with an early large lead, didn't need to be risked. Given the large number of goals last week, perhaps Ji again on the bench at least to start.

Hwang Hee Chan-- Came on in garbage time but not much going on with Leipzig comfortably ahead. At least he's making appearances even if really marginal. I don't expect a large role for him tomorrow. UPDATE: HHC twisted an ankle in training so questionable health-wise in addition to playing-wise

Yun Il Lok-- Remained out of squad and I don't anticipate a change.

Son Heung Min-- Son returned to starting XI and was caught in a weird sequence of events with Son clearly slapped in the face in the buildup to a United goal turned over by VAR. Son did play it up, but I'm a bit confused by the post-match drama as it was far more than a finger grazing. Son did have an impact on the proper end to, capping the end of a nice sequence with a solid goal, sneaking it just inside the post beyond the diving GK. Unfortunately, Tottenham made their standard Mourinho meltdown and though Son was working hard, he did show a bit of inconsistency and the mess behind made the rest of the day a waste. Will start.

Jeong Woo Yeong-- Got a somewhat surprising start but Jeong had way too many turnovers. There is a good player in there but the amount of risk he puts on every pass must drive Streich crazy. When he did complete a pass, it was usually pretty good but not worth the number of bad interceptions and not adding in individual performance either against mediocre opposition. Not a surprise to see him subbed off with 20 to go. Probably back on the bench.

Kwon Chang Hoon-- Came on with 10 minutes or so left, and showed a lot more maturity than Jeong with a good cross and more quality impact in short time on. Unfortunately, Freiburg was not in good shape. The lack of minutes remains frustrating but I don't anticipate a change this weekend.

Hwang Ui Jo-- Continued to add to his tally with a well taken PK. Remains one of the hardest working on his side but his "tweener" skillset continues to be problematic. He had a few chances on the break but didn't have the pace to cause trouble, and out wider, rarely causes trouble with his dribbles or passing. His flexibility and workrate, combined with lack of quality alternatives, means he should continue to start, but he remains a frustrating watch on a frustrating team if he continues to start.

Lee Kang In-- Again unused and the rest of the season looks wasted. Unlikely to play this weekend.

Lee Jae Sung-- Match cancelled due to COVID for both weekends. Fatigue from a compressed schedule likely to hamper any promotion charge.

Choi Kyoung Rok-- Matches cancelled as well.
