Weekly Preview Aug 26 and Weekend Recap Aug 19

I did watch Kim Min Jae's debut since I was sitting around doing nothing and it was a good showing, cleaning up the holes in Fenerbahce's defense, though he did show some rust with some sloppy technical play. Not eligible for EL qualifiers midweek, but maybe I'll add on here based on my energy levels and/or buying BeIN.

In good news, Tottenham's qualifier was selected for streaming so that's a step forward. LASK and Hong Hyun Seok is also playing at 2 PM in Conference League qualifiers but that's not being streamed and Hong likely to start off on the bench.

As of writing time, Lee Kang In is still a Valencia player but given the announcement of a new player for his non-EU spot, he's likely on the move, reportedly to Mallorca who play a couple hours earlier but of course likely too soon to participate.

Son Heung Min-- A rough go for Son between Tottenham not having much of the possession, Son apparently tweaking something in warmups and looking not quite full speed and a bit of bad luck in the box when he did get his chances. Not a great showing but they did get a W and he appears to have avoided serious injury. Given stakes, I suspect he will start but a bit less certain given his injury and could be saved for the weekend where he may be needed to start more.

Choi Kyoung Rok-- CKR was subbed off after 70 and didn't sound like a great match, between playing with 10 men from an hour in or the lack of goals vs. a previously porous Werder Bremen side. Likely to start though.

Lee Kang In-- As mentioned above, looks to be on the move, likely to Mallorca, where I had forgotten Ki Sung Yueng had a short La Liga career, partly owing to COVID shutdown.

Jeong Woo Yeong-- Looked scrappy and strong but ran out of gas about an hour in, having to cover a lot of ground between being a second forward and yet needing to help out against a dangerous Dortmund attack. That effort paid off when he made a run from his own box and chipped in a cross that eventually resulted in their second goal. The press did fixate on a pretty bad miss, but it didn't appear to impact him too much as he didn't hesitate to take a more difficult shot later and IMO, wasn't as bad as it looked given a streaking defender right in front of him. A better showing but won't go so far as to say a good showing. Hopefully continues his streak of starts this weekend.

Lee Jae Sung-- A difficult day for LJS as Mainz struggled for the ball and Bochum's defense made life difficult. This time LJS was in a strike pair, though did have similar responsibilities as the false 9 of last week. He was tidy when he did have the ball, but was not quite on the same page as his teammates in the box and couldn't create on his own. Should start this weekend.

Hwang Ui Jo-- Reportedly not a good showing, HUJ also playing in a strike pair this time. Might be interesting to see how all the various transfers impact things over the next few weeks though Bordeaux still don't have much alternative to HUJ who should start.

Suk Hyun Jun-- Still out injured I believe.

Park Kyu Hyun-- Disappointing for him to only make the bench. Not a great sign.

Hwang Hee Chan-- Came on with the match well in hand. Ran hard but the match was not coming to HHC. With Sorloth gone, HHC looks to cement his backup forward role but will need to start getting some more positive impacts.
